The night is still young, and so am I.

image

I have had this crazy idea in my head for a few weeks now. Yes, people would say, wild and crazy. I wanna get a pixie cut. Not a longish one,but one with short sides and longer top with a bit of bangs, maybe? My hair are too damaged to salvage at this point. So I don’t see any other way but to chop it all off. Also, I have lost so many chunks of hair during the two weeks of exams because of the overwhelming tension that my head looks like a dog’s back with missing patches of fur due to some puke-inducing disease. Yes. I am not even exaggerating( okaay, I am really. My condition is bad. Not that bad, though,I guess. 😶).
But yeah. You get my point, don’t you? I lost half my hair during these exams!! So many chunks! So many!*sobs*
Anyway, I have shoulder-length curly hair(kinda tightly curled sometimes and kinda wavy other times) and I wanna go pixie now. And I thought of running this by a few people to see their reactions.
My mumma, as always, was supportive of my decision. She agreed to go with me to the salon. Other people, though? Cardiac arrest!! Why!?! What!?! Huh!?! Don’t!! Noooo!!!! Seriously!?! You’re kidding, right!?! You’re crazy! This is India!! You want a boy cut!?! Yes. That’s exactly what I got. And ofcourse that made me furious! From when do boys have a copyright on short hair? And when a guy decides to let his hair grow,he’s so cool. Why can’t girls chop theirs off?!!! Why?!
And yes. You wouldn’t look like a girl anymore. What? Neither my body nor my face is getting altered. What the hell?
I kinda researched on the Internet and I came across various people talking about the pros and cons of getting a pixie. Some were:
Pros-
❤Easy to manage hair.
❤Getting rid of the damaged stuff without looking like an utter fool.
❤It’s “in” these days.
❤Comfortable.
❤Confidence.
❤Change!
And many many more.
Cons-
🐀”You and I have a similar haircut.” <- says a guy, in case you were wondering.
🐀”Are you coming out?!” SERIOUSLY?!-.-
🐀You won’t feel or look feminine.
🐀 You won’t be able to wear you hair down. Duh.

If that doesn’t sound stupid enough, people said stuff like, “That’s okay in other countries. Here,in India? Not so much“, to me. Why the hell not? I can not understand for the life of me.
Also, I have really fine hair and the density has decreased a lot A LOT. So,my getting a pixie is not only about looks but health reasons. I wanna work on the damage and get my hair healthy again. I will grow these out again once they are fine. What’s the big deal? It’s just hair. And even if you don’t like it once you get it chopped off, just get a wig( that’s the last resort, though🙊).
Anyway, I just wanted to kinda rant and vent about my anger and frustration. So.😶
It’s not really usual with me. But anyway. *shrugs*

By the way, does any of you have a pixie? Wanna share your experience, or why I should or shouldn’t get one(except for the ones above,I mean)? Tell me! There’s still time. I don’t want regrets!*sighs*

Toodles!

  1. Hey violet! It’s been so long!
Anyway, my mother has a salon so I can assure you that pixie cut is “in”
But if you have frizzy hair( like super frizzy) then you might not like it. But if not, then you’re fine.
I would recommend something more specific but since I haven’t seen you ,I can’t🙈😝
Anyway, I really like the cut where your hair comes just above your collarbones. Think about that one :p

    1. I knowwww,BB! Too damn long,if I be honest.:D
Haha I have heard it’s in. But as I mentioned, I wanna go for a pixie not because of it being in necessarily but to help my hair be healthy again. The condition is really irritating, I tell you.*sighs*
      Lol that’s okay.
I actually want a really short one so that it’s easy to take care of. My hair is breaking a lot due to tangling. I wanna get rid of the length so it doesn’t really tangle. You see where I am coming from? Otherwise, I would have surely loved the one you mentioned. 😛

      1. Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from.
I think you should do it then, I bet you’ll rock the cut :p
Anyway, all I’m sayin is do what you like.
If you like your cut then it shouldn’t matter what anyone says😎

      2. I am going to a hairstylist tomorrow. I have heard that he’s great. Let’s see what he makes of the situation, given the damage to my hair and my face shape and stuff. I will just have to wait to know who I am gonna resemble: a crazy person who’s pissed at her own stupidity or a happy person who loves what she looks like.😶
I know. I don’t really care what others say. The issue is my hair type and the damage. That’s where all the confusion comes from.:/
I will update you people if and when I chop it all off. Hopefully I will be babbling because I will be happy and not ranting because I will be crazy pissed that I would want to set fire to the remaining hair. Or something like that.*rolls her eyes*

      3. Mumma is not all that certain now, now as it’s about time. She says she can not begin to imagine how I am gonna look once it’s done for. We are going to the hairstylist tomorrow, regardless.
She suggested that I should get it cut in delhi only. And you know what? The first place that came to my mind was your mother’s salon. And it’s damn crazy, seeing as I don’t even really know you. But it just did.:D

      4. Haha, I would’ve loved for you to come to my mom’s salon but that would mean revealing who you are :p
I don’t know if you want to know that. Anyway, you should definitely take professional advice. Visit a salon and ask if chopping off your hair is the only solution.

      5. Hahahaha true that.:P
I did go to a couple of hairdressers. I asked them for advice, first thing. One outright said that I should keep it long. Another one suggested multi layers in the back and shortening the earlier length by a few inches. I liked him. So,that’s what has happened to me. No pixie, unfortunately. I now have multi layered, long-bob-lookalike-yet-still-not-bob hair which reach my collarbone on sides and just cover my neck in back. You wanted kinda that,no?:P Lol

      6. Hahahaha honestly?I really love it right now. There’s volume. There’s short length. There’s less tangling. And there’s…I dunno. I just love it as of now.:D I dunno about few days down the line, but it’s awesome at the moment. But I will need continuous trimming, because the haircut got rid of so much dead looking hair,it’s scary. So,I am gonna try to avoid that, and for that I need regular trimming. Atleast, that’s what the guy who cut it off told me. And it makes sense, too. I will have to get rid of my lazy and become a little careful, atleast about my hair. 😛
The bottom line is, I don’t regret it.*insert ear to ear face-splitting grin*
Thank you so much, by the way. 😀

      7. I’m really glad you love it 😀
And yeah, take care of it now. The way you’re describing it, I think I had a somewhat similar cut some years back :p
My mom was in hysterics( she likes long hair, you see ) but she ultimately ended up cutting it as I wanted😁

  2. I got a pixie a few years ago when I was in eleventh grade and honestly, I got a lot of compliments from girls saying that it looked good on me. A mother whose kid went to the same school as me even asked me where I got my hair cut. 😀 The only people who weren’t big fans of my haircut were my parents, my best friend, and well, a guy friend in school said I looked like a boy. I don’t really take any of these people seriously, so. (Just kidding, I do value their opinion) 😛 I mean, I got the haircut after letting my parents and my best friend know that I’m getting one so they didn’t really have a chance to be that vocal about their thoughts later. 😀 It wasn’t a disaster, I wanted something new, and I enjoyed it initially. However, it takes a lot of maintenance and I kinda had to learn how to trim my own hair so that I didn’t grow a weird looking mullet later. Ironically, it has you thinking about your hair more than ever. I never did find myself being able to do any of the cute pixie hair styles they have on the internet. So, a headband was my go-to accessory. Recently, I have been thinking of getting one again because of hair problems like the ones you mention but I can’t really make up my mind. The growing out part was a pain. Let me know what you decide in the end, though! By the way, this is coming from someone who’s in India, so don’t worry. 😉

    1. Hahaha this was funny, I tell you.
Anyway, I know from experience that it’s a pain to grow. I had really short hair till 7th standard. And the 8th standard, the growing out phase, was a total pain in the butt,I agree. But since it’s been a few years since I had that short hair, I am a bit undecided, seeing as my hair has degraded so much.*sighs*
Also, the maintenance? That’s kinda a sucky point. 😐

Thank you so much for responding. I needed that.
And I will definitely let you all know. I just hope I don’t look like a cartoon once I do finally decide to go through with it.🙈

      1. Ah, glad you could relate! 😛 And it’s good to know there are people like me who have “crazy” thoughts like chopping off their hair all of a sudden. 🙂
Flip through photographs of specific pixie cuts that may suit your face shape. Otherwise, just go with your gut feeling! It’ll be a great experience, if you do go for it. 😀

      2. I did go through various hair cuts which might suit me because of my hair texture and face shape and all. But the key issue is density and thin hair. I dunno how it would look like after I chop it off. For hair which are normally dense, all’s well. But for people like me? I gotta think. :/
I am definitely thinking about it though. I am gonna go see a hairstylist in a couple of days. Maybe she will be able to help. I hope she is. 🙈
Annnnd, there are so much crazy out there. Like you, like us. 😛

      3. Ah, true. I have a hair cut due in two months and I’m thinking of going for a medium to long bob. I’ve decided that I won’t be able to go through the pain of growing out a pixie cut again this time. 😛
Good luck! Hopefully, you’ll find what you’re looking for. 🙂
        To the crazy ones… 😀

      4. Haha thank you so much for this, but I already got a haircut and it’s not a pixie.🙈
The hairstylists I visited told me to keep it short because of the lack of volume. So, I finally decided on a shorter cut which is not quite a bob but the sides reach my collarbone and the back is in multilayers which go past my neck, and then some. I am happy with how it looks right now. And it serves the purpose(less tangling). So,there’s that.:D
        But thank you so much,anyway.:*

      5. Haha, okay. All’s well that ends well. 😉 Glad you love your new do! I’m sure it looks great, considering the way you’ve described it. Go rock it! 😀

  3. I do a graduated bob haircut once it was great! Never had a pixie one so you try how did it go then I ll try it but right now I am like focusing to get waist length hair and they are not even growing 😂😂

    Like

    1. Haha I already have shoulder-length hair. And they never did seem to grow because of the curls when it was longer. But I noticed that it does grow when I chopped it off to just shoulder-length. 😛

  4. I had to google what a ‘pixie cut’ was before I read your post 🙂 Now I’m good..well do what your heart tells you to do.. 🙂 If it says go for it…go ahead! its not like your hair won’t grow again 🙂

  5. Haha… nice thought. But I’d like to say something, I had has these thoughts in the month of June this year. And I did get my hair cut, well not that short but very short when compared to my long hair. I miss my long hair. Now I realise that they were so pretty. 😯
Well, I am glad to have u back…😀

  6. hey!
So I too have curly hair. Long though! And I had a boy cut/mushroom cut till the 9th grade! My mom has straight hair and she still keeps a mushroom cut. It looks good! tbh, guys actually went on later to tell me that I used to look good with short hair back in school (yet everyone emphasizes that my long hair look waaay better).
Anyway the point being that short hair do look great if they are cut right! Just make sure your hair type is not frizzy!
Also honestly, hair grow back! So don’t worry! I say go ahead! experience short hair for once 😉

    1. Haha I already have shoulder-length hair. So it’s not like I am cutting off waist length hair. And I got a “boy” cut in 7th standard and grew it out in 8th. So,it’s not like I never had short hair. But people have been going on and on about how my hair is just fine as it is and I shouldn’t chop it off. But I know the extent of damage. And hence I wanna cut it so I can tend to it. Otherwise I won’t even have these left!! I will go bald, I am telling you, what with the number of strands I am losing these days. *sighs*
I will talk to a good hairstylist before getting one.:)
Annnd, I totally thought of going with it because it will grow back, yes. 😀
Thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate it. :*
